MANCS JOIN VILLA CHASE

Manchester United have joined the Premiership interest for Valencia ace David Villa.

The Daily Mail says the Spain striker is coveted throughout Europe and is unlikely to remain at the Mestalla beyond the end of May.

He is wanted by Liverpool but Rafa Benitez would have to blow the entire £40 million transfer budget handed to him by American owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett in one go to acquire his services.

Chelsea are always interested in the world's best players and Roman Abramovich could make a move to appease fans if he decides to part company with Jose Mourinho.

But Villa could be a surprise target for Manchester United, especially if the millions roll in with a double success in the Premiership and the Champions League.

The Glazer family are eager to go one-up on their rival American owners and Villa would love to run out at Old Trafford on a regular basis.

Editor's Notes

It is no surprise that once again the Devils have joined the chase of a player that have been in Liverpool's books for a long while.

As previously mentioned, perhaps the Mancs are scouting Liverpool's scouts instead of potential players. Mikel Silvestre, Nemanja Vidic are the few that was hijacked in the thirteenth hour. Though it was a relief that Silvestre did not don the colors of Liverpool, Vidic's tower of strength has brought much stability to the Mancs' vulnerable defence.

David Villa is now probably the most wanted player on football planet. It would be unwise though for Rafa to spend the entire season's budget on a single player. But having said that, I reckon that it will all boils down to the Spanish influence in the Liverpool camp and also the relationship Rafa has with Valencia.

One option I imagine that Rafa might be looking into is to cut a deal for Villa on an 'installment' basis. Possibly £20 million up fornt and the remaining £20 million over the next two seasons base on appearances, goals or competition won.

Villa is destined to leave in May and it could be a battle of wits from the three corners.
